THE STORY:
I am running the Boston Marathon as a member of Team Eye and Ear, a group of 50 dedicated runners who are raising money to advance the truly inspiring work of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear. I could not be more excited to join this elite team and to help advance their research.
I became involved with Team Eye and Ear, through my friend of 20 plus years, Sue Kolbusz. Her son Trevor suffers from an extremely rare eye disease (LCA, CRB1). Trevor is a fun, athletic and highly intelligent boy. He plays soccer, has competed in swimming and running events, and joins in at our local ski club. He is truly a marvel to watch because while he is doing all of these “typical boy” activities, he has only 10% of the vision you and I have!
Without a cure, Trevor will eventually lose all his vision. Trevor is 11 years old. His disease is a degenerative condition. The rate of that degeneration varies. Some children will experience a rapid loss of vision, while others may maintain their level of visual acuity for a while before experiencing deterioration. The clock is ticking.
We need to help stop the progression of this disease and the only way to do that is with researching for a cure.
My personal goal is to raise at least $7500.
