THE STORY:

T'ruah wrote -

To be a Jew is to stand up for what is just and right. T'ruah mobilizes our network of 1800 rabbis and cantors, and tens of thousands of Jewish community members to protect the human rights of all people in North America, Israel, and the occupied territories.

Your gift helps us to end slavery and trafficking in the United States, to stand up to discrimination against our Muslim neighbors, to end prolonged solitary confinement in US prisons, and to advocate for the State of Israel to protect the human rights of Palestinians and Israelis, Jews and non-Jews, citizens and refugees.

Thanks to a gift from a generous donor, all donations made before September 30 will be doubled--up to a total of $45,000.

What your donation does

$18 sponsors educational materials to help one synagogue take action to ensure safe working conditions for tomato pickers or to stop settlement expansion that threatens the chance of peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

$180 helps one staff person to travel to DC to advocate for the rights of prisoners, trafficking victims, and other vulnerable people.

$360 sponsors one rabbi to join a fact-finding mission to learn how agricultural workers are wiping out slavery in the Florida tomato industry.

$500 sponsors a bus for rabbinical students spending the year in Israel to spend a day learning about human rights issues facing Israelis, Palestinians, and refugees.

$1800 sponsors on-line tools to help rabbis and American Jews to advocate for stronger human rights protections in North America, Israel, and the occupied territories.

$3600 sponsors the creation of educational materials to help rabbis and educators to teach their communities about human rights in Israel and North America.

$6000 sponsors one rabbinical student fellow to spend the summer gaining intensive training in becoming a human rights leader.

$10,000 sponsors a day-long program to train rabbis and other Jewish leaders to combat trafficking and modern-day slavery in their own communities.
