CrowdRise has an incredibly innovative pricing structure which gives donors the opportunity to cover the campaign's transaction fee (both the platform and payment processing fees) on behalf of the cause, ensuring 100% of the contribution reaches the nonprofit, fee-free.
The platform fee varies slightly based on the Pricing Plan the charity has selected, but you can typically anticipate between 3-6%.
Payment processing fees are an additional 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. This covers the safe handling of the funds, as well as a tight layer of security for both the donor and the beneficiary.
Covering fees is entirely optional for the donor and is presented as GET 100% OF YOUR DONATION TO THE CAUSE? at the checkout screen.
Donors may decline to cover this amount on donations under $1000 by clicking the EDIT button and electing to opt out. On donations where the fee is not covered by the donor, those fees are deducted from the contribution before being sent to the charity.
