My dad died of cancer.

It's horrible. I miss him so much and think of him everyday. I'm not kidding, everyday. It happened two years ago. He was diagnosed at 65 and died less than 10 months later. Before he was diagnosed, I never really thought about cancer. It's not one of those subjects any of us choose to spend our time thinking about. Since he died, I've learned that every one out of three men and one out of two women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

That means all of us have either had cancer or known someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.

The American Cancer Society is the largest non-governmental cancer research contributor in America. Because of them, over 11 million people in America who have or had cancer will be celebrating the holidays once again this year.

This organization is not only working to find cures, but also funding groundbreaking research that will help us to prevent cancer in the first place.
