Birthday Fundraising Ideas
We all have birthdays. And while presents are great, many people have started to donate their birthdays to support causes they care about. Instead of getting gifts for your birthday, ask your friends, family and coworkers to donate to your favorite charity instead. And so many people are doing it. Like Ryan, who donated his birthday to help a young woman with cancer see the ocean for the first time. And Susan, who raised nearly $30,000 for the UN Refugee Agency for her birthday. Check out more of the best birthday fundraisers below and start planning how you’re going to exploit your birthday for good. What makes a great Birthday fundraiser?
Great birthday fundraisers are simple because all you need to do is pick a charity, organization or cause that you care about and tell everyone you know , “Instead of spending money on a birthday gift for me you can donate it to this amazing cause that really needs it.” And because everyone who gives to your effort also has a birthday, when you launch a birthday fundraiser you just might inspire your friends and family to launch their own birthday fundraisers, creating a chain reaction of people using their birthdays for good. And think, it will all be because you chose to fundraise for your birthday. Amazing. By: LOOKING OUT FOUNDATION
My dearest fans and friends, it's that time of year again!... In honor of my 35th birthday on June 1st, I’d like to encourage you all to contribute to the Looking Out Foundation and help us raise funds for The Story Campaign. In partnership with War Child, The Story Campaign is a sharing of stories from children who have suffered the horrors of war. As I contemplate another year, I watch images of our scenic country roll past the windows of our tour bus and I wonder what innocent children and families living in war zones must see from their windows. We’re hoping you’ll band together with us and make their views a little brighter. This year I’m turning 35, so I’m asking people to donate $35 to The Story Campaign (or whatever you can afford). No amount too small. No child left unheard. Check out our website to find out how you can make an impact. Make music mean more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, xobc

Maya turns six this February and she has decided to raise money to support underprivileged children in India through the Magic Bus program. Maya wants to make a difference in the world and thought it would be a great idea to give up gifts for her birthday in order to help children in need. Just $25 can enroll one boy or girl into the Magic Bus program. Here are some great impact statistics about the organization: Girls who graduate from Magic Bus are 8 times more likely to make it to university, when compared to other girls nationally A girl in Magic Bus is virtually certain to escape the fate of child marriage 71% of Magic Bus graduates move on to further education or obtain jobs in the formal sector We thank you in advance for your support! Personal note from Maya: I hope that you will donate some money for kids in India. Together we can make a great difference for the kids in India. Thank you for your donation. We will feel good by helping! love maya

Gary Douglas and Dr Dain Heer share a birthday on May 22nd - but did you know they hate celebrating it? However we know they love El Lugar and desire it to be created way faster than we currently can. Do you think if we raised money on their birthday it would give them cause to celebrate? We think so! So we've planned this top secret fundraiser for them (they have no idea!) to fundraise for El Lugar as their birthday present this year.

My birthday is a week away and while I have everything I could ever want and need...Houston's homeless pets need help! Rescued Pets Movement Inc. (RPM) is a 501(c) organization that provides a second chance for thousands of homeless dogs and cats through rehabilitation and transport to forever homes in communities throughout the country that have a need for adoptable pets. My family fosters dogs for RPM and this organization is near and dear to my heart and they really need financial support right now. So in honor of my birthday, I am setting a goal of $500 to help get these animals out of BARC and into loving, forever homes! Please consider making a donation for my birthday...together we really can #SaveThemAll Thank you in advance!

Here’s the truth people: I turn 42 on November 12th (according to my stem cell docs, I'm really only three and a half…). I want to celebrate the marathon of my life, and honor all the people who got me to this point, by running two birthday month marathons and raising $42,000 for Grassroot Soccer (GRS). Oy veh! I will be running the TCS NYC Marathon on November 1st and the AMICA Seattle Marathon on November 29th—aided in my efforts by Seattle Genetics and some fly Puma running gear. This is an opportunity to honor all the folks who helped reassemble my body. My body is bones, flesh and organs, but it’s also my brother Lee’s stem cells, my friend’s platelets, my family's blood transfusions, my doctor’s chemo and targeted hodgkin’s lymphoma therapy, and most importantly it’s strength and spirit sustained by all the virtual hugs and support of family, friends and fans near and far. Every $50 we donate will send a...

It’s not the cake. Nor the gifts. What would truly brighten my 45th birthday is your investment in my life’s passion: working for a brighter Iran through United for Iran. As most of you know, I started U4I in 2009 and it is an extension of me, my purpose. I’m hoping, my dear friends and colleagues, to raise $1,125 by my birthday (March 13)— that is 25 folks donating $45. Thanks for making making this birthday special. Check out the CNN video on the scroll on how United for Iran got started with a bang. At 3:50 they talk about me! At the core of our work is a commitment to support Iran's civil society and defend Iran’s 1200+ political prisoners through grassroots and online campaigns. Love, Firuzeh
