THE STORY:
SOPUDEP is a grassroots organization focused on educating adults and children, supporting women’s rights, and supplying resources to ensure self-sufficiency. SOPUDEP has grown to include a K-12 school, adult literacy program, women’s micro-credit group, and mobile medical clinic. Six years ago, the Students for Haiti Solidarity Club at Los Altos High formally adopted SOPUDEP as its sister school and since then has raised more than $200,000 for SOPUDEP.
The Los Altos Rotary Club kindly collects all monetary donations in a fund and wires it to Rea Dol, the director of SOPUDEP. This ensures 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes directly towards building the new, solar powered complex, which will include classrooms, an orphanage, water cistern, library, computer lab, auditorium, and much more. Please remember no amount is too small, and every donation is greatly appreciated.
