My friends would say I...

• Drink way too much tea (borderline addict)
• Love to dance
• Can consume an unfathomable amount of vegetables (probably due to my vegan-ness)
• Am semi nomadic and love to learn about new cultures
• Can be quite clumsy and accident prone
• Will fearlessly committ 100% to something I'm passionate about 

The last one is fully in action right now with Imagine Scholar - the organization I now utterly  believe in, and stand behind with all my heart.  I moved down to South Africa in April 2012 to start volunteering for them, and haven't looked back ever since.

My Personal Philosophy:  If I had to live my life all over again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner. 

Life for me is an endless journey for exploration and learning.  Every experience - good, bad, interesting, boring, easy, hard - presents us with an opportunity...an opportunity to learn and grow. A lot of people like to claim people (like us on CR) are trying to save the world, but I completely disagree. The world doesn't need saving, humanity does.  Through empowering others and being open minded, we can all learn from one another and foster the change needed to shift the trajectory of humanity. 

Imagine Scholar embodies everything I believe in.  Through a 4 year afterschool, mentor-ship program for promising youth from the (disadvantaged) Nkomazi region, we're providing South Africa's future leaders with the tools they need to be the change they envision for their generation. We are a student centric program that empowers our students through creative exploration and deep discussion of an array of topics/issues. 

Our students have faced hardship after hardship, yet they refuse to let those hurdles define them. Their committment to changing their future and their community's is unparalleled. I've never been more inspired and humbled in my life than by the Imagine Scholar students and their work.  I feel so incredibly grateful to be a part of such a valuable program, and hope to give back to them as much as they've given me.
