Volunteering for Charity Ideas
If raising money doesn’t fully satisfy your philanthropic urges, then you can also look into charities or organizations that you can fundraise for while also volunteering for them. So many places are under-resourced and would love to have someone who is giving them their time as well as fundraising for them online. Check out some examples of people volunteering for charity below and get inspired about how you can follow suit. What makes a great Volunteering for Charity Idea?
Volunteering for charity can be incredibly powerful, especially when done in conjunction with a crowdfunding campaign. Because while it is one thing to ask people to donate to a cause that means something to you, it is a whole different thing if you tell people that you support them by crowdfunding but also by volunteering your time for them. As time is one of the greatest things that you can give someone, letting people know that you’re doing double duty will let them know that you are incredibly serious about this cause - and will likely lead them to support your efforts, whether through money or fundraising on your behalf. And if you’re looking for the right cause to align yourself with, check out our Explore Causes page to find your match.

It costs iMentor $1,000 to provide one mentor-mentee pair with access to iMentor’s proven college success curriculum and resources. All I want for my birthday is... For my 30th birthday, I'm going to Ethiopia (my favorite country in Africa!) with the CrowdRise 24-Hour Impact Project. I want to empower 30 Ethiopian women to start their own businesses. These women live in a small impoverished village called Chapa and currently have no source of income. They have been begging for employment opportunities, so they can buy food for their families, send their children to school, and start to pull themselves out of poverty. On my birthday, I’ll have 24 hours to raise $30,000. The very next day, I'll help these women begin working! I'll provide job training, financial management classes, equipment, materials -- and everything they need to run a sustainable business. I’ll film the entire process so you can see the direct, immediate result. I first visited Ethiopia in 2012, and it instantly became my favorite country in Africa. The people are BEAUTIFUL and in so much...

Hello family and friends! I am very excited to announce that I have just accepted a volunteer-based fellowship with a non-profit organization called Saha Global. I will be traveling to Ghana to establish a clean water system in a rural village near the city of Tamale. From December 28th to January 18th, I will be facilitating local women in installing and operating a water purification business that will provide clean drinking water to the entire village. One particularly awesome statistic about Saha is that, out of the 78 water businesses that they have started, 100% are still running today. I am proud to be working with an organization that is positively affecting so many human lives with their sustainable business/philanthropic model. It is thrilling to me to have an opportunity to work with a non-profit in this setting, as it directly aligns with my degree and what I would love to do after college. All of you guys know that I will never last at a desk job, so I’m hoping this could give me some solid experience in...

This Christmas our family has decided to do something different and show our 5-year-old twins the true meaning of the season is to GIVE. We will be traveling to Greece spending 2 weeks volunteering with Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan refugees. Our focus is helping refugee children and bringing them a bit of comfort and joy on their journey to a better life. Katie and I will be helping the US-based organization "Carry the Future" fitting mothers/fathers with baby carriers (Ergos/Baby Bjorn, Mei Tais, etc)as they arrive off the ferry port in Athens. Max and Sebastian will be handing out "Kid Joy" bags to refugee children. Your donations will help us buy necessary items, on the ground in Greece, to create our "Kid Joy" bags. These bags will contain: small toys, crayons, drawing pad, stickers, balloons, snack bars, fresh fruit, water, juice box, socks, mittens, and a hat. The weather in Greece is cold and the journey north through the Balkans will be absolutely freezing. These families have left...

BENEFITING: KUSEWERA THE STORY: Malawi, Africa: May 13 – 24, 2016 - Malawi is a small, landlocked country in southeast Africa. It is known as the “Warm Heart of Africa” with a population of over 16 million. It is among the worlds least-developed countries, and relies heavily on outside aid. This beautiful country has worked hard to make changes and empowering and educating children is a key to their future. There is an estimated 800,000 orphans in Malawi due to HIV/Aids, famine and other causes, who need shelter, nutrition, education and love. Kusewera is working to do what we can to empower these kids and young adults through various projects in Malawi. My journey will be working with children in the Chitipi area of Lilongwe and at the Jacaranda School in Blantyre. What started as a personal project has developed into a long term vision. I not only want to raise funds to go there, I want to raise money to be able to bring them crayons so they can create their vision. I want to bring soccer balls so...
