The New England Aquarium is a global leader in ocean exploration and marine conservation, and is the only Boston-based cultural institution with a mission focused primarily on the environment. We are redefining what it means to be an aquarium, combining education, entertainment and action to address the most challenging problems facing the oceans.

Our hands-on, interactive traveling exhibits reach 45,000 children in diverse, underserved communities throughout the region every year. Funds raised through the Aquarium’s team running the Boston Marathon® will be used to support these outreach programs, inspiring respect and fascination for marine life and sharing ways students can make a difference for our blue planet. The programs also encourage young people to get out and be active in the natural world.
