THE STORY:
It's always been a personal goal of mine to run a marathon. While researching the Chicago Marathon I found that I could not only run for charity, but I could run for one charity in particular that when I heard about it 8 years ago struck me as an amazing organization, Camp Sunshine.
Camp Sunshine, located in Sebago Maine, provides respite, support, joy, and hope to children with life-threatening illnesses and their immediate families from around the world through the various stages of their journeys. The year-round program is free of charge to all families, and includes 24-hour onsite medical and psychosocial support. Camp Sunshine also provides bereavement sessions for families who have lost a child to supported illnesses.
My goal is to raise $5000. This will make it possible for two families to attend Camp Sunshine.
