Hello!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Any donation, no matter how small, would be most welcome and will make a difference in a child's life. There are so many kids in Haiti who desperately need our support. We all have our problems in life, but we can all reach out to help others as well.
I am committed to personally raising $5,000 through this fund-raiser to benefit the children's projects Random Acts is supporting in Haiti. If I can do that, it will qualify me to travel to Haiti in June with the group (paying for all of my travel expenses out of pocket; every dollar donated goes to the charity) again this year. To get this started on the right foot, I donated my tax return this year. I'm not a rich woman (military service doesn't make anyone wealthy) but I wanted to give what I could.
If you've stopped by here from my Crafting for Haiti webpage, just click on the big donate button to your right if you are here to pay for an auction item. (If you're not here from my website, please check it out, the more the merrier!) Leave your name or initials when you donate so we can ship the crafted item you have bid on to you right away.
Seriously, thanks again for taking the time to look this over. We all lead busy lives, but we can all pause, slow down, and take time to help others too. I'm so excited about this project and I hope you get involved!
RANDOM ACTS wrote -
Two years ago, after a destructive and devastating earthquake ravaged Haiti, Random Acts provided major funding for a journey to Jacmel to assist in rebuilding homes, communities and lives. During our initial visit, a dental clinic was reconstructed, an orphanage was refurbished and a carpentry school with 1600 donated tools was founded.
Later, in 2011, Misha Collins and the Random Acts team returned. This time, we were joined by a group of 22 enthusiastic volunteers. For the volunteers, work began before they arrived in Haiti. To secure their spot, each person expended vast amounts of energy and determination to raise at least $5000. What a great accomplishment! The monies raised from those donations, and donations from our amazing supporters, provided the tools and supplies used during our mission.
While there, the volunteers and staff opened their hearts and arms to demonstrate the true power of kindness. They worked in the fierce heat of the Haitian sun to aid in the construction of a multi-purpose community center; a facility that will provide shelter, as well as educate and feed homeless and orphaned children. Plus, our team members participated in creative and recreational activities with the children, such as arts, crafts and games.
But, our work isn’t done. That's why we're going back in 2012.
