412 Food Rescue

40% of food goes to waste while 1 in 6 go hungry. 412 Food Rescue prevents perfectly good food from going to waste and redistributes directly to nonprofits that serve those who are hungry.

412 Food Rescue was founded to respond to a simple, yet unacceptable disconnect: the fact that almost half the food we produce goes to waste while many of us go hungry. In Allegheny County, that is over 176,000 people--45,000 of whom are children. 

1 in 5 families are food insecure--they do not know where their next meal is coming from. 

Our goal is to rescue 2,000,000 pounds of food in the next three years--and provide over 1.5 million healthy meals.
